Privacy policy

This policy explains how ClockZen handles data for the ClockZen web app, desktop app, browser extensions, and mobile apps. Contact ClockZen about privacy questions or requests at privacy@clockzen.com.

Data ClockZen collects

  • Account information, such as email address, optional display name, profile text, avatar URL, timezone, and authentication state.
  • Time tracking data, such as timers, focus sessions, goals, categories, source ranks, app or website source names, timestamps, durations, and report summaries.
  • Desktop and browser activity metadata, such as foreground app names, window or page source labels, domains, bundle identifiers, activity durations, timestamps, blocking events, and bypass actions.
  • Mobile activity data after consent, such as ClockZen foreground activity and, on Android after Usage Access is granted, app package or app name, usage duration, timestamp range, and event count.
  • Product settings and feature data, such as alerts, notification preferences, block lists, offline activity entries, check-ins, social/accountability connections, and Focus Music provider selections.
  • Diagnostics and telemetry, such as event type, severity, message, app version, build/runtime metadata, platform, route, session identifiers, and update lifecycle state.

Data ClockZen does not collect

  • Screen contents, typed content, private message contents, contacts, precise location, microphone, camera, photos, files, SMS, or call logs.
  • Android app usage from before the user enables mobile tracking and grants Usage Access.
  • Adult or sensitive domains covered by ClockZen privacy filters; those events are dropped before report storage where the filter applies.

How data is used

ClockZen uses account, activity, settings, and diagnostics data to provide time tracking, reports, Productivity Pulse calculations, categories, goals, alerts, focus sessions, blocking, offline activity, app updates, sync, support, security, and product reliability. ClockZen does not sell personal data and does not use collected app usage data for ads.

Sharing

ClockZen shares data only as needed to operate the product, comply with law, protect users or the service, or complete a user-directed integration. Service providers may process data for:

  • Hosting and API infrastructure used to run ClockZen and sync account data.
  • Expo/EAS infrastructure for mobile updates and push or background-task support when those features are enabled.
  • Beyond Cloud release/update telemetry for sideloaded mobile update checks.
  • Email delivery providers when alert email delivery or account support messages are configured.
  • Spotify only when a user connects Spotify for Focus Music playback.

Social or accountability features share check-ins, profile details, or status information only according to the user's chosen connections, groups, or profile-sharing settings.

Controls

  • Mobile Activity Tracking can be turned off in mobile Settings. Android Usage Access can also be revoked in Android system settings.
  • Apps & Websites lets users change rank/category, ignore a source, restore an ignored source, or delete tracked data for a source.
  • Users can delete their ClockZen account and associated ClockZen data from web or mobile Settings after typing their account email.
  • If a user cannot sign in, they can request deletion from the public account deletion page or by emailing privacy@clockzen.com from the account email address.

Retention and deletion

ClockZen keeps account and activity data while the account is active or as needed to provide the service, troubleshoot, protect against abuse, comply with law, or maintain backups. Account deletion removes the user's associated ClockZen activity, timers, goals, alerts, check-ins, social data, device telemetry, and connected music-provider data from active application records. Backup, log, or security records may persist for a limited period where required for reliability, security, or legal reasons.

Security

ClockZen uses HTTPS for release API communication, authenticated account access, bounded background work, and reasonable technical safeguards for personal and sensitive user data. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, but ClockZen limits access, collection, and sharing to app and service functionality.

Changes

ClockZen may update this policy when the product, providers, or legal requirements change. The latest version will remain available at https://clockzen.com/privacy.
